EGO VS SPIRIT

The ego takes, the spirit gives
The ego thinks, the spirit feels
The ego controls, the spirit allows
The ego judges, the spirit observes
The ego is fear, the spirit is love
The ego struggles, the spirit surrenders
The ego sees lack, the spirit knows abundance
The ego is restless, the spirit is stillness
The ego is in the mind, the spirit is in the heart
The ego says ‘I found the way’, the spirit says ‘I found a way’
The ego reaches for the destination, the spirit relishes the process
The ego strives for outer perfection, the spirit for inner perfection
The ego sees the world in polarity, the spirit sees the world in unity

WHO AM I?

In the infinite ocean of the divine
A drop of water am I

In the vastness of the almighty cosmic play
Bounded by senses am I

I experience who I am not
Only to experience who I am

As every drop of water disappears into the ocean
So dissolves the ego of who I think I am

I am that which everything is
All that is everything is in me
If only I will go within and seek who I am

ENLIGHTENMENT

Enlightenment
…is being, not doing
…is remembering, not learning
…is a journey, not a destination
…is emptiness of mind, self and ego, form and time

Enlightenment is not confined to words
It dwells in the space between
In nature’s language of silence

Disconnecting from the mind and senses
I go within to seek my truth

In diminishing, you are closer to the goal
In striving, you are further from the truth

Oh, my Lord
Love me … merge with me
Help me surrender in serenity

With your love, fear vanishes

Merciful God,
I can live no longer without your grace
Grace me with air when I’m drowning
Grace me with the wisdom to know that I’m your child

So that I will not leave without

Sickness plagues us

Life is irony

But how else to experience harmony?

What limits us becomes our liberator

To allow wisdom and clarity
And transcend the struggle in polarity

God, you are oneness
You are unborn, unseen and nameless

BE THE CHANGE

Witness the cry of human misery
Do we love and give to ease their pain

Life’s drama deludes many
Seems they are enduring the inevitable pain

Detachment with mastery as we age
We learn to surrender in the rhythm of the divine

In the silence between our thoughts
The mystery of life unfolds

Love in a world of hate
Hope will we bring to end the human pain

HIDE AND SEEK

God, you seem far away
Yet you are so close
Between my thoughts
And in the depth of silence
Shall I find you

God, you are in the outer heavens
Yet you are also within
In the recesses of my loving heart
Shall I find you

God, you seem to hide
Yet you are everywhere

You are the father and mother
You are alpha and omega
You are hot and cold
Yet you are beyond all of them

Duality eludes many
Yet shall I find you
In the space of the absolute

God, do not hide!
In the absence of cold
Can warmth not be appreciated?
And in the absence of fear
Can love not be experienced?

You want us to experience you
Yet so few find you
Of those who find you
So few ever be with you

Ultimately, it is we who play hide and seek
Yet it is you whom we truly seek.

COMMUNION WITH GOD

In the depths of my soul, I cried, “God … Oh, God!”
I want nothing but you, beloved Creator of all

You’re the father and I’m the child
You’re the master and I’m the servant
You’re the creator and I’m the created
You’re the musician and I’m the instrument

Let me appreciate you in the beauty of nature
In a smile and in the love of an innocent child
Let me experience your omnipresence
So that I can worship you in every form
Let me reciprocate your love for me
And manifest the Kingdom of Heaven on earth

Help me see through the deception of form and duality
Help me see that in the absence of falsehood there is truth
Help me see that what lies before me is nothing compared to what lies within me

Should we not attune with your will,
Then why should we live?
Should we not live according to your laws,
Then why should we breathe?
Should we not appreciate that true romance is with you,
Then why should we worship the human form?

Let me live in the world
But not be of the world
Let thy will be done!
